Cemeteries

Cemeteries

Evesham Town Council operates three municpal cemeteries in the parish. The largest of these is on Waterside, which also contains a section of war graves maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, and the others are in Bengeworth and adjacent to St Andrews Church in Hampton.

Evesham Town Council manage three cemeteries within the parish; Waterside, Bengeworth and Hampton. Each one is cared for by the Council’s dedicated outdoor team to maintain a quiet, peaceful place of rest for the deceased, their family and loved ones. Our cemeteries also include sections of war graves, taken care of by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. All of our cemeteries are open to the public 24/7.

If you wish to hold a burial in any of these cemeteries, either for a body or cremated remains, you will be required to fill out a Notice of Internment form. These documents are kept as part of Evesham Town Council’s official burial records, which date back to 1873. Please note that graves/ashes plots are not available for pre-purchase.

Town Cemeteries

Waterside

The biggest of all the Town Council’s cemeteries, Waterside is located at 42 Waterside, Evesham, WR11 1BU on the B4035.

In addition to graves, it has a Memorial Garden and a Garden of Remembrance which are specifically for ashes burials and ashes scatterings, respectively. It currently has space for a further 60-100 new plots.

Bengeworth

The oldest of our cemeteries, Bengeworth can be found on Broadway Road, Evesham, WR11 3NB. Similar to the other cemeteries, it contains graves and a Memorial Garden for ashes burials. Due to limited space, there are currently no more plots available in Bengeworth and any burials must be limited to re-opening of existing plots only.

Hampton

Hampton Cemetery is located on Pershore Road, Evesham, WR11 2PQ, along the B4084 and adjacent to St. Andrews Parish Church. It has graves and a Memorial Garden, but like Bengeworth, is currently limited to re-opening of existing plots only due to spatial constraints.

This year, Evesham Town Council began a Rewilding & Biodiversity project in its cemeteries and green spaces. Read more about this exciting work here, on our Rewilding in Evesham Cemeteries page.
