🎉VE Day 80th Anniversary Celebrations

Celebrating 80 years of peace in Europe since WWII!

Join us as we commemorate Victory in Europe (VE) Day with a series of special events across Evesham, to remember the sacrifices of the past while celebrating our shared history marked by 80 years of peace and freedom in Europe.

Between them, you can expect:

  • 🫡Remembrance and traditional proclamations
  • 🍰Cake & refreshments
  • 🎙️Live music & entertainment
  • 💃🏼Authentic 1940s dancers
  • 🚛Wartime vehicles
  • 🫖Plenty of classic, British tea!

Come together with family, friends, and neighbours to mark this historic occasion at one (or all!) of our events, to immerse yourself in a month of remembrance and jubilations!

Decoration Competition

As part of the celebrations, Evesham Town Council are holding a shopfront & household decoration competition, to dress your house and/or business in your best VE Day themed 1940s attire. It could be flags, bunting, spitfires – be creative!

To enter, simply email council@eveshamtowncouncil.gov.uk by 2nd May 2025 with the following information:

  • Subject line: “VE Day Competition 2025”
  • Full Name
  • Address
  • Entry type (residential or business)
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • A picture of your decorations!

Entries will be judged in person the week before VE Day (1st – 7th May) by your Mayor. Business and Residential entries are two different categories of the competition, and as such will be judged separately.

Winners will be announced at the ‘Tea, Coffee, Cake & Memories of Wartime Display’ event on VE Day (May 8th) at Evesham Town Hall. Don’t worry if you can’t make it; we will be in touch with the lucky winner!

Good Luck! ✌🏼
